Tamia's sophomore release, A Nu Day, is a wonderful taprestry. This album is more than pop hooks, peel back a ballad and you find drama.
Tamia reveals the character of this CD with the first tune, "Dear
John". The first single released from this 12 song disk,
"Can't Go for That" is an interpolation of the Darrell Hall and
John Oates hit, Tamia's version was written and co-produced by none other than
Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott. In fact no less than five songs sport the work of Tamia's friend Missy
Elliott. After a great start, Tamia gets stronger and more spirited as the music flows on. When you get to
"Stranger in My House" (my favorite) you're in love with her great voice and engaging style. The songstress continues with 6 more wonderful exhibitions, finishing strongly with a remix of
"Can't Go For That" featuring 213, the west side rap giant
Snoop Dogg supported by some of the Dogg Pound Crew. |
